Hola Book Clubbers!
We are half way through learning about the Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic. I especially liked this chapter on "Study" because it was one that I could really connect with and that I'm actively working on every day. (I really do love reading and studying things! :-)) Again, Matthew Kelly focused on just doing a little bit of study on the faith at a time and in the end that will make a huge difference in each individuals life and even our parish as a whole. Joining this book club could be one way that you could really embark on cultivating the "Study" sign in your own life, and we'd LOVE to have you join along at any time!
Here are our first set of Discussion Questions:
1.) At what time in your life have you been hungriest for answers to questions about your Catholic faith? What caused that hunger?
2.) What’s the best Catholic book you ever read? How did it help you to grow in your faith? (I hope lots of people respond to at least this question because it will be treasure trove of future book club selections!)
1.) Although I am pretty hungry right now to learn everything I can about the faith, I think the search began when I was actually at a low point in my faith. This was during a time when I REALLY wanted to get Hailey baptized, but realized right before we were ready to schedule it that my sister and brother-in-law couldn't be Godparents unless one of them was confirmed. I did realize the reasoning behind it especially when there are lots of confirmed people who go to Mass and are connected to the faith WAY less than my sister. This event was an impetus to look at other churches/denominations, but in the end, none felt right. I started doing lots of research about all sorts of religions, but it wasn't until we switched to All Saints that it became easier (and I felt more comfortable) to ask questions and begin to really understand the faith.
ReplyDelete2.) I haven't read a lot of Catholic books yet, so I don't think I can really answer this question. I will say that Catholic blogs, like CatholicMom and Busted Halo have kept me connected and learning about the faith on a daily basis.
